Lunch: 12 noon-2 p.m. Dinner 4-8 p.m. Support the Rotary Scholarship fund and enjoy a great meal with family and friends.

Riverhead Rotary’s annual spaghetti lunch and dinner will go on today despite the weather, Rotary club president Tom Lennon said this morning.

“It’s a great day for a nice hot meal in a warm, friendly atmosphere,” Lennon said.

“This is an important fundraiser for our club,” he said. The proceeds of this year’s event go to support Rotary charities, including the club’s scholarship fund.

Each year, the Rotary Club of Riverhead awards tens of thousands of dollars in college scholarships to graduating seniors at Riverhead and McGann-Mercy High School, Lennon said.  Events like today’s lunch and dinner support those scholarship awards.

Rotary is an all-volunteer organization and all monies raised by the club go to support the scholarships and other local charties, as well as select regional and international charitable causes supported by Rotary International.

On the menu today are the traditional spaghetti and meatballs plus chicken parmigiana. All entrees are served with a tossed green salad, garlic bread and dessert.

Lunch is served from 12 noon to 2 p.m. and dinner is served from 4 to 8 p.m. Eat in or take out.

The event takes place at Riverhead Polish Hall on Marcy Avenue.
